Please note this is a two-day workshop that runs on both Sat 29 Feb & Sat 7 Mar 2020.
Learn how to make a figurative clay sculpture, inspired by Antony Gormley’s Field For the British Isles.
Receive individual tuition and guidance from local artist Aaron MacDermott, where you will learn skills in wire armature, and the application of clay to a frame.
Over the two sessions you will build an armature (a frame) for your sculpture, exploring how this relates to the skeletal structure of the body. You will then apply clay to the the armature to represent muscular and surface layers of the body – considering how muscles shape and influence form, and how different parts work together in a three dimensional space.
In this workshop you will be using a wax based clay, which will dry onto the armature without the need for firing.
Suitable for all abilities. For learners 18+. All materials will be provided. Cost covers both days on Sat 29 Feb and Sat 7 Mar 2020.
