Basic materials are provided. No experience necessary, just an enthusiasm!
10:30am – 5:00pm. Freshly prepared light lunch from our café included.
What to expect?
We begin the day by looking at Claire’s exhibition You And I Are Earth to gather inspiration and learn about Claire’s creative practise.
The workshop will centre around making quick drawings and later, acrylic and pastel paintings, from film footage of extreme weather events.
Screenshots will be grabbed from the footage and you will learn about capturing the energy in small quick drawings, looking at composition, colour and tonality using charcoal.
After lunch you will be making a larger, more worked drawing using the same materials.
You can then practice how to translate these into acrylic and pastels, with some instruction on basic layering techniques, talking about colour and brushwork.
