1944, Vermiglio, a remote mountain village.

While war rages on in Europe two deserters Attilio, a son of the village and Pietro, a stranger from Sicily take refuge in this timeless and dark town.

Pietro and Lucia, the eldest daughter of the strict local teacher form a romantic bond which devastatingly changes the course of everyone’s life.

‘The second feature from Italian director Maura Delpero (her debut, Maternal, was a minor festival success), Vermiglio is exquisite.’ – The Guardian ★★★★☆
