Your support can help young people living in Colchester and surrounding areas to access our Holiday Fun Programme, education programmes and local creative community projects, helping families and young people from all backgrounds and circumstances to discover and develop their creativity and transform their lives.
Get making, moving and munching with Holiday Fun in Colchester and Harwich over the school holidays!
Our drop-in creative activities for families change daily and are available from 10am-2:30pm. Outdoor sports activities for children are a great way to keep active and have fun. Families can also book into the canteen for a hot, nutritious lunch every day.
Holiday Fun events are for families that qualify for free school meals, or those that require additional support during the school holidays.
Holiday Fun runs in Harwich at Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre and in Colchester at Firstsite.
Holiday Fun December 2021 will run on the following dates:
- Harwich: Mon 20 Dec – Thu 23 Dec
- Colchester: Mon 20 Dec – Fri 24 Dec & Wed 29 Dec – Thu 30 Dec.
Early bird bookings for all Holiday Fun locations opens Fri 3 Dec 2021 – Thu 16 Dec. Further tickets will be released three days in advance of each session.

About Holiday Fun
Through our programme, we aim to help children stay happy, healthy and creative, and provide a fun space for both children and adults to interact and socialise.
The activities are most suitable for 4–11 years but all ages are welcome.

Children and their parents or caregivers can enjoy a hot and nutritious lunch at Firstsite’s canteen or you can choose to have your meals as a takeaway. All meals are free to any family who feels they would benefit.
Keep children active with movement and sports activities.
Fun and creative activities are held every day during Holiday Fun for children and families to enjoy.

Keeping you safe
In response to feedback from our visitors and team, along with the latest official advice, we have put a number of measures in place to provide a safe and fun experience for everyone:
• Socially distanced tables with table service.
• Food serving staff equipped with PPE.
• Surfaces and seating cleaned regularly.
• Toilets closely monitored and regularly cleaned.
• Socially distanced sports activities with equipment cleaned between sessions.
• Hand sanitising stations.
• We encourage participants to take part in the NHS Test and Trace Programme. Please scan the QR code located in our Welcome Area upon arrival.
• All Firstsite staff are offered free workplace testing.
The steps we have taken meet the Government and public health guidance, and we hold the ‘Good To Go’ industry standard mark.
