Lilah Fowler: Code Clay, Data Dirt
Exhibitions: FREE
London-based artist Lilah Fowler makes artwork that examines the effect and consequence of technology on our contemporary landscape, revealing how the ‘natural’ and the ‘man-made’ are interwoven a state that she refers to as ‘nth nature’.
For Firstsite Fowler presents an innovative display that combines her own sculptures with museum objects, including pieces from the designated collections of Colchester and Ipswich Museums.
Leading the audience through Roman to contemporary ways of shaping space, the exhibition comprises materials and items such as marble, working tools, mosaic raw materials, Samian ware and algae.
Of special significance are Fowler’s large-scale textiles, which are woven with unique patterns produced from a bespoke algorithm.
