In a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor) – The Mastermind – an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief, plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels.
James is a struggling designer and former art student living in 1970s Massachusetts, who becomes desperate to change his fortunes.
Relying on his family’s support, he secretly uses borrowed money to fund a risky scheme: hiring local criminals to steal valuable paintings from a nearby art gallery.
But after the heist takes place, James realises he has no plan for what happens next. As relationships break and danger closes in, his life quickly unravels.
