Colchester Arts Society Presents: From The Landscape: Building an Exhibition with Simon Carter
Thursday 29 October 2026
Colchester Art Society invites you to the Autumn Lecture at Firstsite, with CAS President Simon Carter.
For more than 40 years, Frinton-based artist Simon Carter has walked, drawn and painted the landscape around him. Simon Carter: From the Landscape reflects on this long relationship with the Essex coast in an exhibition that asks us to look at painting again.
The talk will look at the thinking behind the exhibition, how it was constructed and how, through paint, the exhibition explores the act of looking.
The event will consist of a talk with Q&A from Simon, followed by a tour of the exhibition.
