Explore a mix of art mediums and styles in these all-day comprehensive study workshops with local artist Jevan Watkins Jones!
Each all-day session will focus on a different art medium such as Watercolour, Indian Ink, Acrylic, which can be booked as a course or individually.
Whether you’re an experienced artist or just discovering your creative side, these sessions are an excellent way to learn and build up your confidence in different styles as well as materials and take a finished artwork home.
10:30am – 5:00pm. Buffet lunch included with vegan and vegetarian options available. Any dietary requirements, please include in your booking.
These workshops are suitable for ages 16+.
Fri 26 Apr – Watercolour
Learn how to handle watercolour through technique based experimentation, make your own watercolour works in response to the freshness of Spring’s new growth and light.
Sat 25 May – Indian Ink
Learn how to work with Indian Ink, explore tonal technique, brush drawing and line work. Make monochromatic works in response to pools of light and dramatic shadows in nature.
Fri 28 Jun – Acrylic
Learn how to use acrylic paint, explore painterly effects and make a series of painted studies inspired by the rich colours of the summer garden.
About the artist
Jevan’s work crosses the fields of drawing and horticulture; his routines as a gardener are bound up in the material of his images. His distinct social practice draws on life’s processes and the seasons of the garden to explore issues faced by individuals and communities.
He is the founder of the Chatto Art Group who meet monthly at Beth Chatto Gardens; an Honorary Associate at Cuckoo Farm Studios and a Trustee of The Minories.
Watkins Jones studied at The Royal Drawing School, receiving the school’s first prize for his drawings from city farms.
