Session Activities
Sat, 24 Oct – Wish You Were Here! by Millicent Glasgow and Jayne Lloyd

Taking inspiration from the photos in the Against the Tide exhibition join us to make a postcard celebrating where you live!  Make a collage, paint or draw your own postcard to show us what makes your town special.

Tue, 27 Oct – Weaving Waste landscapes by Sue Gascoyne

Artist Sue Gascoyne will show you how to create a simple cardboard loom to weave single-use plastics and wool into abstract landscapes inspired by Simon Carter’s exhibition.

Wed, 28 Oct – Paper Ocean Drums by Clip

Using dried grains and paper plates,  you can make and decorate your own ocean drum to create swishing wave sounds. Once your drum is finished, you can also record the sound of your drum and experiment with adding different audio effects!

Thu, 29 Oct – Tiny Town – Seaside Special! by Tom Armstrong

Inspired by Firstsite’s current exhibitions and artworks celebrating the coast, join artist Tom Armstrong as we create our very own tiny seaside town! Exploring different materials and ways of making we will build a  collaborative coastal world together.

Fri, 30 Oct – Through the bird hide by Heidi Sharp

Inspired by Simon Carter’s exhibition, From the Landscape, we will be using different printing processes, including relief and gelli plate, to create prints inspired by the landscapes around us. Feel free to pop into the ‘bird hides’ and look out over the Firstsite garden, or just work from your imagination.

Sat, 31 Oct – Make and create your own pumpkin and rangoli designs! by Beck Norris and Hetal Amin

Join Beck and Hetal to celebrate the autumn season! They will help you make, paint and create your very own pumpkin decoration using clay and show you how to create colourful rangoli patterns in the lead up to Diwali.
