Cinema

Comrade Tambo’s London Recruits is a documentary film about the true story of the young men and women who undertook clandestine missions for the ANC during apartheid South Africa.

Kept secret for over 40 years, their part in the long struggle for freedom can finally be told.

Stay for a post-film discussion and Q&A with the film’s director, Gordon Main, and London Recruit, Steve Marsling.

Gordon Main – Director & Lead Producer

Gordon Main has spent the last 10 years making this film. A labour of love. He has made other award-winning short films as well as TV documentaries.

He is a campaigner and activist on social justice issues and has trained with Augusto Boal and others in Theatre of the Oppressed methodology. He lives with his family in Cymru.

Steve Marsling – London Recruit

Steve Marsling is an original London Recruit, played by an actor in the film. Steve got involved with the Anti Apartheid Movement at an early age.

He was horrified to discover a country that told you who you may fall in love with, and separated you by the colour of your skin. People were being imprisoned for anti racism. Racism was legal. It had to be stopped.
