Festival of Rice & Spice Returns to Colchester This September!

Colchester’s much-loved Festival of Rice & Spice returns this year on Saturday 12th September, running from 12pm to 5pm at Firstsite.

Now an established fixture in Colchester’s cultural calendar, the festival is a vibrant celebration of global cultures, bringing together food, music, dance, art and activities for the whole community to enjoy.

The event is organised by a volunteer-led community group whose passion lies in reaching into the heart of the community — bringing people together to share their similarities and celebrate their differences.

Visitors can look forward to a packed programme including sizzling cookery workshops, joyful live performances, and hands-on craft sessions, with something to enjoy for all ages and all communities.

“Come for the flavours, stay for the stories, and leave with a deeper connection to the world around you” is the spirit at the heart of this year’s festival.

Call for Community Art Projects

As part of this year’s festival, organisers are inviting local artists and community groups to get involved. Anyone with an idea for an art project or community-based activity they would like to showcase at the festival is encouraged to get in touch.
