Sculpting Into Abstraction
Saturday 17 January 2026
Study the possibilities of abstract sculpture with local artist Iris Dina Gunnardottir in this hands-on workshop in a supportive environment.
Inspired by the works in the Into Abstraction: Modern British Art and the Landscape and your own creative expression, experiment with materials such as clay, Modroc, and wire to create your own, unique abstract sculpture.
The session will invite participants to respond to key works in the gallery and transform those ideas into expressive three-dimensional forms.
Basic materials provided. Food and drink is also available for purchase throughout the session from our cafes. This workshop is suitable for ages 18+.

What is Abstract Sculpture?
Abstract sculpture focuses on shape, texture and form rather than realistic representation.
It encourages artists to move away from familiar figures and objects to express ideas, emotion or movement through simplified or experimental structures.
