When she moved to Colchester from Ukraine, Natalie struggled to find affordable activities for her kids. Joining the programme gave Natalie and her children a safe, welcoming space where her son could enjoy creative activities and movement sessions – all completely free.

Inspired by the support, Natalie decided to join the Holiday Fun team, growing professionally while helping other families facing similar challenges.

Sadaat's Story

Three years ago, Sadaat moved to Colchester with her son and, like many single mums, struggled to find affordable things to do during school holidays. That’s when Sadaat discovered our Holiday Fun project at Firstsite.

Inspired by our programme’s impact, Sadaat joined the team as an assistant, helping other families enjoy the same benefits. It’s given her confidence and new skills while providing her son with creative opportunities they couldn’t afford elsewhere.

When Sama and her husband were going through tough times financially, our project was a lifeline – offering free, fun activities and tasty lunches without the worry of cost.

Her youngest son found a space to let his creativity shine, while her other son discovered activities like breakdancing and football, all while making new friends along the way.
