Join the Kids in the City Holiday Fun Art Activity at Firstsite!

We are thrilled to be a part of the Kids in the City extravaganza, where Colchester’s city centre will be transformed into a vibrant playground for local children in support of the NSPCC’s Childhood Day. Join us on Saturday, 29 July and Sunday, 30 July, as we host a series of exciting art workshops for the young creatives!

Sat, 29 July – Holiday Fun Art Workshop

10:00 am – 2:30 pm

Unleash your child’s artistic talents at our free drop-in Holiday Fun art workshop, led by local artist, Mary Pullen Deacon. They will have the fantastic opportunity to add their touch to a group mosaic and even create their own unique design to take home as a keepsake. No prior booking required; simply pop in anytime between 10am to 2:30pm.

Sun 30 July – Self-Led Art Activity

10:00 am – 2:30 pm

On Sunday, we invite your little artists to embark on a self-led art activity, thoughtfully designed by Mary Pullen Deacon. Once again, they can contribute to the group mosaic and craft their individual masterpiece to cherish forever. Drop by between 10am to 2:30pm for this creative adventure!

Taking place at pop-up locations across Colchester,  children will explore exciting career opportunities by trying their hands at real job roles under expert guidance. From becoming a style guru at Fenwick to learning about healthcare at the NHS, there will be countless career experiences to discover. Moreover, our city will host numerous activities, including the chance to be a professional footballer or learn financial management at the Bank of Colchester.

Not only will Colchester’s Kids in the City event give the young people of Colchester the chance to take a hands-on look at a future career, but throughout the weekend they will be supporting the incredible work of the children’s charity NSPCC, marking Childhood Day.

As well as celebrating the joy of childhood, Kids in the City will showcase the live, work and play ethos of Colchester and the opportunities this incredible city offers people of all ages. Join us for two days of fun-filled exploration as we celebrate the joy of childhood and showcase Colchester’s vibrant live, work, and play ethos.
