31% prefer to hear about cinema screenings and events in general via social media, and 26% prefer to find this information directly on Cinema websites.

72% of our respondents have returned to our cinema since we reopened in 2021. And of those who haven’t yet, 90% said they plan to visit the cinema in future, which is great to hear, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

Of those who have returned, customers highlighted our range of films, comfortable seating, prices, location and quality of service as the main reasons they choose to watch a film at Firstsite.

In addition 69% also said that they visited Firstsite Cinema to support Firstsite – the profits from every ticket purchased for our cinema, along with purchases in our shop and café go straight back into supporting our programme of exhibitions and events, and help support our Holiday Fun programme too.

66% of our respondent said they would prefer either non-socially distanced seating or both socially distanced and non-socially distanced seating. And 82% said the removal of social distancing would  not stop them from visiting.

Due to this feedback, from July, we will be continuing social distancing for our midday matinees and relaxed screenings. We will also try where possible to include a second encore of popular live screenings which is socially distanced. All our other screenings will return to our standard seating, removing all social distancing.

We are continuing to review our provision of snacks, we received very mixed feedback on these, and so we will be reviewing this options further to provide the best experience for everyone.

As part of our Arts Council capital funding grant received in May we will be upgrading our cinema equipment. We are currently working through our plans to try to avoid too much disruption to our cinema screenings,  we will provide further updates about these upgrades and when this will be happening as plans progress.
