Colchester’s Young Cultural Ambassadors Programme: Ignite Your Passion for the Arts

Are you aged 16-21 and passionate about the arts? Apply now for Colchester Young Cultural Ambassadors 12-month Programme!

We’re partnering with the Mercury Theatre, Essex Music Services, Colchester Arts Centre, and Signals to offer an exciting 12-month programme for young people aged 16-21. This is your chance to build essential skills, gain hands-on experience, and explore careers in the arts, culture, and community sectors.

Learn about the roles Firstsite and other institutions play in the community and collaborate with fellow ambassadors to brainstorm what you hope to achieve throughout the programme and how you plan to advocate and share about the work that all of these organisations do.

What you’ll do:

• Producing & Event Management – understanding the logistics behind successful community events.
• Community Engagement – connecting with young people and local groups.
• Administration – mastering spreadsheets, budgets and planning.
• Marketing – promoting cultural initiatives effectively.
• Selling Yourself to Employers – crafting CVs and applications that stand out.

Work Experience: Spend a week with one of our partner organisations and play a role in major events like Rice and Spice Festival held right here at Firstsite and Family Fun Days.

Collaborate & Lead: Work with fellow ambassadors, share ideas, and help shape the future of youth arts programming during six yearly meetings.
