Introduction to Cyanotype
Sunday 22 February 2026
Discover the expressive power of cyanotype in Introduction to Cyanotype, a hands-on creative workshop.
Introduction to Cyanotype will be inspired by themes of migration, belonging, lifelong learning and wellbeing.
This workshop invites you to explore how personal stories, memories and connections can be transformed into striking blue-toned artworks.
Across the workshop you will be introduced to cyanotype methods and guided through the process of creating your own compositions.
The workshop involves working with recycled and natural materials, along with transparent film sheets of personal photos, to produce images that reflect your own experiences of place, identity and connection.
Experiment on both paper and fabric, trying out different approaches and pushing the possibilities of this unpredictable medium. The session encourages creative exploration, persistence and a sense of discovery, allowing you to build confidence while developing new artistic skills.
By the end of the workshop prints will be brought together to create a final artwork or collage.
Basic materials provided. Food and drink is also available for purchase throughout the session from our cafes. This workshop is suitable for ages 16+.

What is Cyanotype?
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes, known for its deep blue colour and beautifully detailed results.
Using light-sensitive solutions, natural materials and ultraviolet light, participants can create unique prints on paper or fabric.
It is a playful, experimental technique that rewards curiosity, bold ideas and a willingness to discover what happens next.
