Join us for a special evening event to celebrate the opening of our new exhibition, Simon Carter: From the Landscape

Be among the first to experience Simon Carter’s three new series of works created especially for Firstsite among 30 acrylic paintings and drawings made since 2020.

For his biggest exhibition yet, Frinton-based artist Simon Carter is transforming our galleries into a hand-painted landscape you can walk through and explore from within.

Simon paints directly onto our gallery walls, responding to Firstsite’s architecture. New ‘groyne’ walls, inspired by structures along the Essex coast, reshapes the galleries and create new ways to move through and experience the work.

With multiple entrances and changing viewpoints, you’ll wander, pause and look again, experiencing Simon’s work, the landscape and our galleries in a completely different way.

Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and reflection:

• Speeches will begin at 6:30pm.
• Our fully licensed bar will be open throughout the evening.
• Explore all our current exhibitions, browse the shop, and visit the cinema.
• No booking required. Everyone welcome.
