Firstsite awarded £829,515 funding from Arts Council England

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £829,515 in grant funding from Arts Council England (ACE), as part of their 2023-26 Investment Programme.

Arts Council England today announced its National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) grant funding to arts organisation around the country, and we are one of 950 arts institutions – including over 50 organisations which are in East Anglia – which have been announced as a National Portfolio Organisations.

The money will be used to continue Firstsite’s work in positively transform the lives of people across Colchester and beyond through art and creativity. It will allow the Gallery to continue delivering its high-quality programme with a focus on making exhibitions, projects and events which are relevant to the local community, provide a platform where artists and communities can share their lived experiences and reach and inspire diverse audiences across East Anglia.

Director Sally Shaw MBE says, “We are hugely grateful to Arts Council England for their continued support. Their recommitment to Firstsite will help us continue the work to we do in our building and online, supporting our local community to access art and creativity and experience the benefits which being creative brings.

“Continuing to be a National Portfolio Organisation is a huge honour and the funding and resources we receive helps us to do incredible things. By continuing this support, ACE will help us to move closer to achieving our mission to ensure art and creativity are valued for their integral role in shaping a happy and healthy society for everyone.”
