For many film fans going to the cinema is a wonderful experience and pastime, but – like so many other things nowadays – it can also give your finances a right wallop. With the Mosaic pass, watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster or a feelgood classic works out at just £8.25 a month, or if you go once a week, you can watch a movie for less than £2.

Plus, you’ll get an 10% off in Firstsite’s shop and café for the whole year too, so you can definitely afford to indulge yourself with some treats before settling into your seat.

From 23 November, there’s a packed programme of studio-made films and live screenings; including Martin Scorsese’s blistering adaptation of David Grann’s non-fiction bestseller, Killers of the Flower Moon, Typist Artist Pirate King which tells the story of artist Audrey Amis, the heartfelt family drama 20,000 Species of Bees, Warner Bros’ upcoming family film Wonka and the uplifting The Miracle Club, starring Maggie Smith.

Alongside new releases, including Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Dream Scenario, comedy thriller Saltburn and Ridley Scott’s latest historical epic Napoleon, Firstsite’s December programme will also be sprinkled with festive classics including Elf, A Nightmare Before Christmas, The CBeebies Panto and It’s a Wonderful Life. All screened using Firstsite’s brand new, more powerful projection and sound system.

The Mosaic Membership pass also gives holders an extra 20% off music events – meaning you can see the much-anticipated cinema screenings of Cliff Richard: The Blue Sapphire Tour 2023 and Andre Rieu’s White Christmas for just £12 each – saving £3 per screening (offer excludes live screenings).

The scheme also takes 20% off the price of Firstsite’s incredible variety of workshops and talks; so you can enjoy big savings on upcoming festive creative sessions including Yuletide Wreath-Making (16 December) which you can book for just £48 (saving £12). Or you can try your hand at making Glass Tree Decorations (23 November) a two day Winter Decorations Clay Workshop (26 November) or Candle Making (8 December)  – for £36 each, saving £9 per workshop.

In the New Year, fun classes such as Nature Drawing with Lisa Temple-Cox, Sketch, Etch and Scones with Karen Densham and the ever-popular Boozy Brushes and Drag Life Drawing offer plenty of opportunities to get crafty, have a laugh and save cash.

An added advantage of the Mosaic Membership is that there are NO booking fees on any tickets

The Mosaic Membership Scheme is inspired by the ancient Roman Berryfield mosaic which can be seen in the floor of the Colchester gallery, as Sally Shaw MBE, Director of Firstsite explains: “Just like a mosaic, which is made of many individual tiles, each of our Mosaic members contributes to the overall picture and vision of Firstsite.

“As a member, you will make a real difference, helping us to support more local artists and communities and provide incredible art exhibitions and experiences for free, for everyone. £10 can fund a day’s worth of our Holiday Fun activities for one person so your membership could help pay for 10 people to attend Holiday Fun during the school holidays.

“And as well as providing this vital support to Firstsite and helping to support the local community, we hope our membership will allow our visitors to really make the most of what we have to offer – taking advantage of incredible savings to enjoy an entire year packed with creativity, art, film, food, shopping and inspirational talks and experiences.”

Firstsite also offers a Collectors’ Group membership which affords art lovers the chance to support artists working in Essex and Suffolk along with opportunities to participate in a specially-tailored programme of visits to artists’ studios, private collections, Firstsite’s own exhibitions and other cultural attractions.
