The horrors of the holocaust and genocide are remembered by Colchester Holocaust Memorial Day Group in a series of videos online.

The first video Jean Boase-Beier and Marian de Vooght, an academic at Essex University, reading selections from the Anthology Poetry of the Holocaust that they edited together.

The poems are individual voices but remind us of the many different groups persecuted by the Nazis because of their religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, or political opinions.

Listening to these poems the victims are not distant voices from the past but part of communities that we cherish today.
