On the evening of March 31, 1943, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart confronts his shattered self-confidence at Sardi’s bar in Blue Moon.

Meanwhile his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his ground-breaking hit musical ‘Oklahoma!’.

Blue Moon follows the final days of celebrated Broadway lyricist Lorenz Hart, capturing a poignant portrait of a brilliant artist confronting fading fame, unrequited love and his own volatile nature.

Set in 1940s New York, the film centres on Hart’s long night of reflection after the premiere of Oklahoma!, the show that marks the turning point in his partnership with composer Richard Rodgers.

As Hart retreats to his usual bar, he fills the hours with sharp observations, memories of past successes and the lingering hope for connection with a young woman who briefly brought light back into his life.

Through encounters with friends, colleagues and strangers, Hart revisits his complicated creative relationship with Rodgers — a bond shaped by loyalty, frustration and deep artistic dependence. While the world around them moves on, Hart wrestles with the pressure of legacy and the fear of being forgotten.
