We remain open online to help keep your brain fresh!

4th November 2020

Dear friends,

So here we are again! We hope you and your families are bearing up OK under the news of another lockdown in England. And to friends further afield, we hope you are also managing well with any restrictions you face.

Wherever you are in the world, we hope you are keeping safe and well in this very difficult time.

Following the recent UK government announcement, we will be temporarily closing the Firstsite building to members of the public at 5pm on Wednesday 4 November – but we will be continuing to bring art, positivity, and fun directly to you via our emails, website and social media.

We will be back in our building soon!

As soon as it is safe, and we are permitted to do so, we will open our building again. In line with the government announcement, we hope this will be on Thursday 3 December.  Once we have a reopening date confirmed, you will be the first to know.

All events due to take place in the building, including cinema screenings, from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December will be cancelled. If you have pre-booked for any event during this time, you don’t need to do anything, we’ll be in touch with you very soon.

If you have booked onto an online event such as our next online talk: How refugees saved Colchester, these will be going ahead as planned.

In the meantime…

Each week we will be sharing little packages of fun things to do, watch and take part in to keep brains fresh and help us all to think differently.

Everything we do at Firstsite is always designed to inspire new perspectives and give starting points for your own imagination to take flight. Another lockdown won’t stop this!

Keep an eye on your inbox for our first bundle of ‘Brain Fresh’ ideas. As we will all be spending a lot of time there, this first package will inspire you to think differently about home.

We’ll also be sharing all these ideas on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube channels.

Alongside our online content, we will be continuing to support Community 360 – helping them deliver their Winter Warm campaign, providing Colchester residents with support to keep well this winter.

Keep in touch

If you have other ideas of how we can support you or the community, please get in contact.

We are determined to be here to provide all the help you and our entire community needs to find creative solutions to the challenges we all face, and build resilience to tackle these challenges now and in the future.

Simply email [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

And even though our building will be closed, you can also speak to a member of our team by calling 01206 713700 from 9am – 5pm on weekdays.

Can you help us do more?

Art and creativity are vital as we navigate our way through this pandemic.

Please, if you can, support us with a donation to help us continue to deliver creativity throughout this new lockdown and help us to open again with new exhibitions and events to uplift us all.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

Look after yourselves, stay safe, stay creative and keep thinking differently!

Best wishes,

Sally Shaw MBE and the Firstsite team
