As Palestinian villages revolt against colonial rule, Yusuf navigates between Jerusalem and his rural home, amidst escalating unrest and a pivotal moment for the British Empire in Palestine 36.
Set during the Arab uprising of the late 1930s, Palestine 36 follows the growing resistance to British rule as tensions rise across the region. The story centres on Yusuf, a young villager who moves to Jerusalem to work for a local newspaper editor.
Although initially uninterested in politics, he becomes increasingly drawn into the struggle as he witnesses the impact of colonial policies on everyday life.
Through intersecting characters – from community leaders and workers to British officials – the film portrays the shifting alliances and moral conflicts of the period.
Blending personal stories with major historical events, Palestine 36 offers a powerful look at a pivotal moment in the region’s history, exploring themes of identity, resistance, and the forces that shaped the future.
